Alexandria, VA Jerry Torres voiced support on Friday for Israel’s strikes against the Iranian regime, saying he hoped it would create an opportunity for the Iranian people to end their regime's oppression.

“The Persian people — both in Iran and throughout the global diaspora — are eager to have a democratic government that reflects their values, free from the repression of Ali Khamenei’s regime,” Torres said. “As Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, they want and deserve better, and they should know that both the United States and Israel stand with them against the terrorists running their government.”

An unidentified building in Tehran was ablaze on Friday evening, filmed during Israel's attack.

Israel struck an unspecified number of targets in Iran on Friday evening. The scope of the attack isn’t clear, though the targets did not include nuclear facilities or oil fields.

Torres praised Israel for their restraint and for taking action. “Israel has sent a clear message that those who oppress, terrorize, and destabilize the Middle East will face consequences,” Torres said.
