Washington, D.C. — Los Angeles performer and human rights advocate Loomis will join congressional candidate Jerry Torres on Sunday for a critical event addressing the genocide of the Amhara people in Ethiopia.
The event, which will take place in front of the White House beginning at 2 p.m. on Nov. 3, will bring activists and community leaders together to raise awareness and urge immediate action against the atrocities committed against the Amhara people. President Joe Biden has worked with Democratic lawmakers and other world leads to continue supporting Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali while turning a blind eye to the bloody conflict.
Sunday's event — which is aimed at amplifying the voices of survivors and calling for intervention from the international community — is being coordinated by seven groups: The Global Amhara Coalition, Amhara Tinsae; Moa Teahido; Gasha Amhara; Moged Amhara; the Federation of Amharas in North America (FANA); and the Washington Area Association of Amhara (WAAA).
